INTRODUCTION

Hello:
My name is Yordanka Brunet Valle and I am an English teacher trainer from Cuba. I got MA in TESOL at Westminster University, UK in 2008. I enjoy doing research regarding the teaching learning process of foreign languages and the use of technology as a valuable support for their acquisition and improvement.

It is a reality that being successful teaching a foreign language in class is not an easy issue to achieve, however teachers by means of videos can allow students to acquire the target language efficiently.

So, through this Blog you will learn how to use videos as a support of the English lessons in class, based on some examples of the most appropriate activities which will be divided in three main stages; the Preparatory, the Understanding and the Extension Work. These activities were selected taking into account that they are suitable for all levels, can be used with any videos because they are general, interesting, and simple, so they are easy to put into practice.

In addition, the Blog designed should contribute also an example for teachers in general about its design and content.

The Blog has the topics organized on the left side according to the alphabet. The Introduction offers an explanation about the Blog in general, then, you will see the Preparatory activities, the Understanding activities and the Extension Work, which are the activities achieved as a support of the videos. So, when clicking on one of the bottoms regarding the activities, you will see a window with three main tittles; Description, Objectives and some Examples of the activities taking place in class. Then, you will also enjoy the videos used from YouTube for the filming lessons.

These activities could be very useful for teachers, students and teachers trainers because, any time teachers want to use a video in class and they are not sure about which activities are the most adequate and the methodology for using them, they can go to Internet, click in the link and find out the information they need.

At the moment I am teaching English to foreign students at Havana Medicine University and I realized there is a lack of computing tools, mainly videos for using in class. So the blog has also some examples of short medicine videos in English which allow to increase the motivation of the students towards the English subject due to, the videos deal with medicine topics and also they allow the students to enrich their English communicative skills.

Besides, the Blog has some examples of articles related to education that have been published in Cuba and abroad.

The Blog gives the possibility to write any comment regarding the topics presented and allows to contact the author through email.
